What is Notta?
Notta is an AI meeting assistant that turns spoken conversations into searchable text, then writes summaries, action items and follow-up drafts. It handles live online meetings, uploaded recordings and in-person chats from one account.
Capture works in several ways. A bot can join Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams and Webex calls from your calendar, or the Mac and Windows apps record meeting audio on your own computer so no bot appears. Files can be uploaded from local storage, Google Drive or Dropbox, and the iPhone app imports Voice Memos. Notta’s AI layer, called Notta Brain, then answers questions across meetings and builds documents from the transcript.
The name blends the words note and taking. Notta says more than 10 million people and over 6,000 companies use the service, with more than 30 million hours of audio transcribed, and it now also sells a hardware recorder called Notta Memo.
Key Features
Language coverage and flexible capture matter most here: Notta transcribes 58 languages and records through a bot, a desktop app, a phone or a file upload.
- Live transcription: Speech appears as text while a call or recording is still running, with speaker labels showing who said what. Notta advertises accuracy above 98 per cent, and you can add custom English or Japanese vocabulary to help with names and jargon.
- 58-language support: Transcription and translation cover 58 languages, so one workspace can serve teams in several regions. Translating a finished transcript is part of paid plans, while live translation and side-by-side bilingual transcripts are separate paid add-ons.
- Bot-free recording: The desktop apps for Mac and Windows record meeting audio directly from your computer instead of sending a bot. This suits client calls where an extra participant would feel awkward, and there is also an on-device transcription mode.
- AI summaries and Notta Brain: Each meeting gets a summary with key points and action items, and Notta Brain answers questions across many past meetings. Paid plans include 1,000 Brain credits a month, with a larger 8,000-credit pack sold separately.
- Generated documents: Notes can be turned into follow-up emails, infographics, slides and PDF, Word or Excel documents. That saves rewriting a meeting into a client recap or a project update by hand after the call ends.
- Exports and sharing: Paid users can download transcripts as TXT, DOCX, SRT, PDF or XLSX files, or share a record through a public link. The SRT option gives video teams a quick subtitle file from an interview or webinar recording.
Pros
Breadth is the strongest argument for Notta: one yearly Pro fee of $97.99 covers 1,800 minutes, five-hour recordings and every capture route across web, mobile and desktop.
- Genuine free plan: You can test real transcription with 120 minutes a month and ten AI summaries, without entering a card. That is enough to judge accuracy on your own accents and audio before paying anything.
- Multilingual teams: Support for 58 languages means staff in different countries can use the same tool and share transcripts. Bilingual transcription is available as an add-on for meetings that switch between two languages.
- Many ways to record: Calls, uploads, phone conversations and screen recordings all land in one library with one minute allowance. Researchers and sales staff can therefore keep interviews and online meetings searchable in the same place.
- Stated compliance: Notta lists SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, GDPR and HIPAA compliance on its pricing page. Enterprise plans add SAML SSO, audit logs and IP restrictions, which helps when security teams review new vendors.
- Agent-ready data: An MCP server and command-line tool let AI agents query your meeting history directly. Technical teams can pull past decisions into other assistants without exporting transcripts manually.
Cons
The three-minute cap on each free recording is the catch, because a real meeting cannot be fully tested without a paid plan or the 7-day Business trial.
- Short free recordings: Free recordings stop after three minutes each, even though the plan offers 120 minutes a month. A full meeting test therefore needs the Business trial, which most users will want to start with.
- Translation costs extra: Live translation costs $6 a month and bilingual transcription $9 a month on annual billing, according to the official pricing page. Multilingual teams should add these fees when comparing Notta with rivals.
- Monthly billing premium: Paying month to month costs far more than the yearly price, with reviews quoting about $13.99 for Pro. Teams unsure about long-term use pay a noticeable premium for that flexibility.
- Accuracy varies: Strong accents, cross-talk and background noise still produce errors in names and technical terms. Expect to correct transcripts before sharing them, especially for legal or research quotations.
- Download needs Pro: Transcript downloads in TXT, DOCX, SRT, PDF and XLSX are listed as available from Pro upwards. Free users can read and share notes but cannot take files out for archiving or editing.
Who is Using Notta?
Sales and customer teams are a core audience, since summaries can flow into Salesforce or HubSpot, but researchers, educators and multilingual offices use Notta heavily too.
- Sales teams: Reps record discovery calls and log summaries into HubSpot or Salesforce. This keeps CRM notes current without typing after every conversation.
- Journalists and researchers: Interviewers transcribe long recordings and search them for exact quotes. The SRT and DOCX exports help when preparing articles, papers or video subtitles.
- Students and educators: Learners capture lectures and seminars, often using the 50 per cent education discount on Pro. Summaries help with revision, though students should follow their institution’s rules on recording and on using AI notes.
- Global and hybrid teams: Staff in different countries meet across several languages and share one transcript. Translation lets each person read the notes in their own language afterwards.
Pricing
Notta is freemium: the free plan costs nothing, Pro is $97.99 a year and Business is $199.99 per seat a year (official prices, October 2026).

A 7-day Business trial and a 50 per cent education discount on Pro are offered, and Notta Brain can be expanded to 8,000 credits a month for $93.59 a year. Reviews quote $13.99 and $27.99 for monthly billing, while one directory still lists a $9 starting price.
Disclaimer: Notta adjusts minute limits and add-on fees from time to time, so read the live pricing page before you commit to a yearly plan.
What Makes Notta Unique?
One account transcribes bot-joined calls, bot-free desktop recordings, phone chats, uploads and even a dedicated hardware recorder, all in 58 languages. Few meeting note takers combine that many capture routes with bilingual transcription.
The output side is also wider than plain notes. Transcripts can become infographics, slides or Excel files, and the MCP server lets AI agents query meeting history, which suits teams already building their own assistants.

How We Rated It
Notta earns 4.1 out of 5 because accurate multilingual transcription and wide integrations outweigh the restrictive free tier and paid translation add-ons.

Summary
Notta is a strong pick for teams that record many meetings, especially across languages or in a mix of online and in-person settings. Its main limitation is the free plan, which stops each recording at three minutes, and live translation adds to the real cost. Always tell participants they are being recorded and check local consent rules. Test the Business trial on a full meeting before paying yearly, and add custom vocabulary early to cut correction time.
