What is WPTurbo?
WPTurbo is a browser-based toolkit that generates WordPress code snippets, such as custom post types, taxonomies and hooks, so developers can add features without installing extra plugins. You fill in a form, and it returns PHP you can paste into a custom plugin or a child theme.
The site groups more than 40 generators by area: admin screens, queries, WooCommerce, Elementor and theme setup. A separate tool called WPTurbo AI takes a plain-English request and returns a snippet. With a free account you can also save code into a personal snippet library for later projects.
WPTurbo is built by Alex Borto, who runs the WordPress tutorial site WPMarmite from Troyes in France. Directory listings date the first release to April 2023. The official Pro page now states that WPTurbo Pro is no longer available, while the free generators remain open, and it points visitors towards Cursor, Claude Code and Automattic’s Telex for deeper AI work.
Key Features
Form-based generators do most of the work in WPTurbo, turning a few labelled fields into standard WordPress functions that you would otherwise write by hand.
- Post type and taxonomy generators: These forms build register_post_type and register_taxonomy code with your labels, slugs and visibility options. The output follows core WordPress functions, so it works in a custom plugin or a theme’s functions.php file.
- Query builders: Dedicated generators produce WP_Query, WP_Tax_Query, WP_Term_Query, WP_User_Query and WP_Comment_Query arguments. They save you from checking the developer handbook for every parameter name each time you build a custom loop or archive page.
- WooCommerce snippets: A WooCommerce group covers checkout field validation and removal, address fields, email subject lines and extra account page tabs. Shop builders can make these common changes without buying a separate extension.
- Admin and theme tools: Generators cover dashboard widgets, metaboxes, settings pages, user roles, cron jobs, image sizes and child themes. There is also a theme.json generator for block themes and a starter plugin generator.
- WPTurbo AI: You describe what you need in a chat box and receive a snippet a few seconds later. The AI page lists a free allowance of 25 requests a day, and results can be copied, downloaded or saved.
- Snippet library: Registered users can store snippets from the generators, the AI tool or their own code in one place. This helps freelancers reuse the same tested functions across client sites instead of rewriting them.
Pros
Cost is the clearest draw: every generator is free to use, and WPTurbo says its snippets can replace several small single-purpose plugins.
- Free generators: All of the form-based generators can be used without paying. With Pro withdrawn, there is no paid tier to hit, which suits students, hobbyists and freelancers on tight budgets.
- Fewer plugins: Testimonials on the homepage describe removing three to five plugins by using snippets instead. Fewer plugins can mean fewer updates to manage and a smaller attack surface on client sites.
- Wide WordPress coverage: Over 40 generators span admin, queries, WooCommerce, Elementor and block themes. Most routine customisation jobs have a matching form, so you rarely start from an empty file.
- Built by WordPress educators: The WPMarmite team has more than ten years of WordPress experience, according to the about page. Generated code sticks to core functions rather than unusual frameworks, which keeps it readable.
- Copy or download output: Each result can be copied to the clipboard or downloaded as a file. This fits developers who paste code into a site-specific plugin or a snippet manager such as WPCode.
Cons
Uncertainty about the future is the main concern, because the official Pro page says the paid plan has ended and recommends other AI coding tools instead.
- Pro no longer sold: The Pro page states that WPTurbo Pro is no longer available, with no date or migration notes. Features that depended on Pro, such as higher AI limits, may not return.
- Mixed messages on the site: The about and AI pages still describe Pro benefits, including 500 AI requests a day. Visitors may be confused about what is actually on offer until those pages are updated.
- You still need to test code: Generated snippets can conflict with themes or other plugins. Always test on a staging site and keep backups, especially when editing functions.php on a live site.
- Narrow scope: WPTurbo only produces snippets, not complete themes, page layouts or hosting tools. Agencies wanting a full AI site builder will need a separate product such as 10Web.
- Limited documentation and support: Help is mainly an email address and a contact form. There is no public status page or detailed changelog, so troubleshooting relies on your own WordPress knowledge.
Who is Using WPTurbo?
WordPress developers who prefer lean sites over plugin-heavy builds form WPTurbo’s core audience, alongside the WPMarmite readers it was created for.
- Freelance developers: They generate post types, taxonomies and settings pages for client projects. Saving snippets in the library speeds up repeat work across many sites.
- Agencies: Small agencies use the generators to standardise boilerplate code. It shortens set-up time on custom builds and keeps plugin counts low.
- WooCommerce shop builders: They adjust checkout fields, emails and account tabs. The generated hooks avoid paying for small extensions that do a single job.
- Learners and site owners: People learning WordPress study the generated code to see how core functions fit together. Confident site owners use it for small changes on their own sites.
Pricing
WPTurbo is free to use, because the official Pro page now says Pro is no longer available (official site, checked October 2026).
| Plan | Price | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Free account | $0 | All code generators, the snippet library and WPTurbo AI with 25 requests a day, as listed on the AI page |
| Without an account | $0 | Generators can be used, with code copied or downloaded; saving snippets needs registration |
| Pro | No longer available | Previously offered 500 AI requests a day, private saving and global settings; withdrawn according to the Pro page |
Some directories still list Pro from $9 a month and a free allowance of 50 AI requests a day, which conflicts with the official pages and appears out of date.
Disclaimer: the AI allowance and account features could change while the site is reorganised, so check the AI page for current limits.
What Makes WPTurbo Unique?
Breadth of WordPress-specific forms sets WPTurbo apart from general AI chat tools. Instead of prompting and hoping the model remembers the right arguments, you tick options for a post type, a WooCommerce field or a cron job and get code built on core functions.
Its link to WPMarmite also matters. The generators sit beside tutorials written by the same team, so less experienced users can learn why a snippet works rather than pasting it blindly. With Pro gone, it now works more as a free reference toolkit than a subscription product.
Compatibilities and Integrations
Generated code targets WordPress core, WooCommerce and Elementor, and you move it into your site by pasting or downloading the snippet.
- WordPress core: Output relies on standard functions such as register_post_type, add_action and WP_Query. It belongs in a custom plugin or a child theme.
- WooCommerce: A dedicated group of generators handles checkout, address, email and account page changes for WooCommerce stores.
- Elementor: Elementor generators produce a plugin skeleton and custom widget code for developers extending the page builder.
- Block themes: A theme.json generator helps set colours, typography and layout options for full site editing themes.
- Export: Snippets can be copied, downloaded or saved in the online library. No public API or IDE extension was found.

How We Rated It
WPTurbo scores 3.8 out of 5, because free and well-organised generators are offset by the end of Pro and an unclear roadmap for its AI tool.
| Criterion | Score | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Accuracy and Reliability | 3.8/5 | Core functions, test still needed |
| Ease of Use | 4.4/5 | Simple forms, instant output |
| Functionality and Features | 3.9/5 | 40+ generators, snippets only |
| Performance and Speed | 4.3/5 | Code appears instantly |
| Customization and Flexibility | 3.6/5 | Form options, limited scope |
| Data Privacy and Security | 3.5/5 | Little detail published |
| Support and Resources | 3.1/5 | Email support, mixed pages |
| Cost-Efficiency | 4.7/5 | Generators free to use |
| Integration Capabilities | 3.0/5 | Copy, download, no API |
| Overall Score | 3.8/5 | Average of the nine criteria |
Summary
WPTurbo suits WordPress developers and learners who want free, form-based snippets for common jobs like post types, queries and WooCommerce tweaks. The main limitation is uncertainty, since the Pro plan has been withdrawn and the team now points users to other AI coding tools. The generators remain useful, and the code sticks to core WordPress functions. We see it as a handy free reference rather than a long-term platform. Save any snippets you rely on locally, because the online library could change.
