What is Riverside?
Riverside is a browser-based studio for recording, editing and publishing podcasts, video interviews and webinars. Each participant’s audio and video is recorded locally on their own device, in up to 4K video with uncompressed audio, and then uploaded as separate tracks, so a weak internet connection does not ruin the final file. After recording, you edit by changing the transcript, generate short clips and promotional posts with AI, and publish or stream to platforms such as YouTube, LinkedIn and Spotify.
Riverside was founded in 2020 by brothers Nadav Keyson, the CEO, and Gideon Keyson, the CTO, and G2 lists its headquarters in Palo Alto, California. The company has raised a $35 million Series B led by Oren Zeev, with Seven Seven Six among its backers, and its LinkedIn and X handles still use the Riverside.fm name. Its homepage names Spotify, Microsoft, TED, The New York Times and The Economist among users. In October 2026 it was live with free and paid plans, holding a 4.8 rating on both G2 and Capterra.
Key Features
- Local multitrack recording: Riverside records each participant on their own device in up to 4K video and uncompressed audio, then uploads separate tracks. Recordings stay clean even if a guest’s connection drops during the call.
- Text-based editor: Riverside lets you edit video by cutting, copying and pasting words in the transcript. That makes rough cuts far quicker for people with no timeline editing experience.
- Magic Clips: Riverside’s Magic Clips picks highlights from a long recording and turns them into short vertical clips for social media. Capterra reviewers single it out as a major time saver.
- AI Co-Creator: Riverside’s AI Co-Creator drafts promotional assets such as clips, posts, thumbnails and headlines from a recording. It works as an editing and repurposing agent inside the same project.
- Magic Audio and AI fixes: Riverside cleans up sound with Magic Audio, removes filler words and can correct eye contact and speech. These fixes help guests recorded on basic microphones and webcams sound more professional.
- AI translation and B-roll: Riverside translates content into more than 30 languages and can generate AI B-roll footage. An AI Twin feature is also listed among its AI tools on the pricing page.
- Live streaming: Riverside streams in Full HD to several platforms at once, including YouTube, LinkedIn, Instagram and Twitch. Hosts can bring audience members on air and manage chat in one place.
- Webinars: Riverside hosts webinars with registration, Q&A, polls and audience call-ins, plus a HubSpot link for lead capture. The Webinar plan covers 100 registrants, rising to 10,000 on Business.
- Podcast hosting and publishing: Riverside hosts podcasts and distributes episodes to Spotify, Apple Podcasts and YouTube with built-in analytics. AI writes show notes, chapters and keyword-focused descriptions for each episode.
- Transcription: Riverside generates automatic transcripts for every recording, which also power its editor and show notes. Searchable transcripts also make it quick to find quotes before cutting a clip.
Pros
- Reliable recording quality: Riverside’s local recording keeps each guest’s track sharp even on unstable connections, a point Capterra reviewers praise repeatedly. Separate tracks give editors full control in post-production.
- Big editing time savings: Riverside’s AI tools cut editing work sharply, with some Capterra reviewers reporting 20-hour projects reduced to about 30 minutes. Text-based editing and Magic Clips do most of that work.
- All-in-one workflow: Riverside covers recording, editing, repurposing, streaming, webinars and podcast hosting in one product. Small teams can drop several separate subscriptions as a result and keep every file in one project.
- Easy for guests: Riverside guests join through a browser link with no account or software needed. That lowers friction when booking busy, senior or non-technical interview guests for a show.
- Strong user ratings: Riverside holds 4.8 out of 5 on G2 across more than 1,500 reviews and 4.8 on Capterra across 309. Ease of use scores 4.8 on Capterra.
- Usable free plan: Riverside’s free plan includes two one-time recording hours, basic editing and 720p export. That is enough to test the full studio with a real guest before paying for a plan.
- Security credentials: Riverside reports AICPA SOC compliance, and the Business plan adds SSO. Larger companies can use these to pass basic procurement and IT security checks before rolling it out to staff.
Cons
- Upload issues on weak connections: Riverside depends on guests’ devices uploading their local files, and Capterra users report grainy video or incomplete uploads when connections are poor. Ask guests to keep the tab open until uploads finish.
- Tight recording limits: Riverside’s Pro plan includes only 5 recording hours a month and Grow 15 hours, with unlimited hours on Webinar and Business. Weekly long-form shows can hit the cap quickly.
- Free plan restrictions: Riverside’s free tier adds a watermark, caps export at 720p and gives just two recording hours in total. It works for testing, not for a running show.
- Frequent interface changes: Riverside updates its interface often, and Capterra reviewers say moved buttons cause repeated confusion. Teams with written production workflows may need to update their guides regularly.
- Limited advanced editing: Riverside’s editor lacks the animation and graphics depth of dedicated video software, according to some reviewers. Heavily produced shows may still need Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve.
- Slow support at times: Riverside support draws mixed reviews, with some Capterra users reporting multi-day waits during urgent problems. Priority 24/7 support is reserved for customers on the Business plan.

Pricing
Riverside offers a free plan and paid plans from $24 to $79 a month on annual billing, with custom Business pricing (official prices, October 2026).
| Plan | Price | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | 2 one-time recording hours, 720p export, basic editing, watermark |
| Pro | $29 a month, or $24 a month billed $288 yearly | 5 recording hours a month, 4K, no watermark, AI editing, 1 studio, 2,000 AI credits |
| Grow | $39 a month, or $34 a month billed $408 yearly | 15 recording hours a month, 2 studios, social scheduling and newsletter tools |
| Webinar | $99 a month, or $79 a month billed yearly | Unlimited recording, 100 registrants, Q&A and polls, 3 studios |
| Business | Custom | 10,000 registrants, unlimited studios, SSO, 12,000 AI credits, dedicated support |
The pricing page showed the same $408 yearly total for both Grow and Webinar during our check, which looks like a display error, so we left out the Webinar yearly figure. Annual billing saves up to 20%, and some AI tools use credits while Magic Clips and Magic Audio do not, so compare plan limits against your monthly output before you subscribe.
What Makes Riverside Unique?
Local recording on every guest’s device is the foundation that sets Riverside apart from Zoom-style call recorders. Because each person’s 4K video and uncompressed audio are captured before compression and uploaded as separate tracks, the raw files hold up in professional editing. Riverside then wraps that recording core with a transcript editor, AI repurposing, live streaming, webinars and podcast hosting, so one tool covers the path from interview to published episode.
Compatibilities and Integrations
- Platforms: Web studio, Mac app, and iOS and Android apps.
- Streaming destinations: YouTube, LinkedIn, Instagram, Twitch and other platforms at once.
- Integrations: HubSpot for webinar leads, plus an MCP integration for AI assistants.
- Distribution and export: Podcast hosting to Spotify, Apple Podcasts and YouTube; separate audio and video track downloads.

Summary
Riverside suits podcasters, video creators and marketing teams who record remote conversations and want editing, clips and publishing in one place. Its main limitations are the recording-hour caps on Pro and Grow, and upload problems when guests have weak connections. Support responsiveness also varies. Run a test recording on the free plan with a real guest, and check whether 5 or 15 hours a month covers your schedule before choosing a paid tier.
