Dola

Dola was an AI calendar assistant that turned chat messages, voice notes and photos into calendar events and reminders. It worked inside WhatsApp, Telegram, LINE and Apple Messages, syncing with Google, Apple and CalDAV calendars. The service was free of charge. Its makers later renamed it Toki, which now runs as standalone apps with free and paid plans.

What is Dola?

Dola was a free AI calendar assistant that worked inside messaging apps, turning texts, voice notes and photos into calendar events with reminders. It has since been renamed Toki.

The idea was simple. Instead of opening a calendar, you added Dola as a contact on WhatsApp, Telegram, LINE or Apple Messages and wrote something like “dentist next Friday at 3”. It read the date, time and title, created the entry in a linked Google, Apple or CalDAV calendar, and sent the reminder back into the same chat. Directories also describe a daily agenda summary, a weather report and a basic web search inside the conversation.

Its maker, Orion Arm Pte. Ltd., a Singapore-registered company, renamed the product Toki and moved users to standalone apps for iPhone, Android and Mac. In October 2026 heydola.com no longer resolved, and Toki ended its WhatsApp service on 15 February 2026 after WhatsApp restricted general-purpose AI assistants. Note that this Dola is unrelated to ByteDance’s Dola chatbot, which is the renamed Cici app.

Key Features

Chat-based capture was the core of Dola: one message, voice note or picture produced a finished calendar entry without opening a calendar app.

  • Plain-language scheduling: Dola converted everyday phrases such as “lunch with Sam next Tuesday at 1” into calendar events. Reviewers noted that it handled relative dates well, so you rarely had to type a full date or time zone.
  • Voice and image input: You could send a voice note or a photo of a poster, invitation or screenshot instead of typing. Dola pulled out the date, time and place from the picture and proposed an entry for you to confirm.
  • Calendar sync: Events were written directly to Google Calendar, Apple Calendar or any CalDAV account. Because the entry lived in your normal calendar, it appeared on every device where that calendar was already set up.
  • Edits by conversation: Dola remembered the thread, so a follow-up such as “move that to 4pm” changed the event you had just created. Directories also mention adding several events in a single message.
  • Reminders and daily briefings: Alerts arrived in the same chat as a normal message rather than as a separate app notification. An optional daily summary listed your plans and added a local weather forecast at a time you chose.
  • Group chat support: Dola could be added to family or team group chats on supported platforms. Members could then log shared plans, such as a school event or a team dinner, from the conversation they already used.

Pros

Zero setup made Dola appealing, because it ran in chat apps people already had open and cost nothing during its run.

  • No extra app: Dola worked through WhatsApp, Telegram, LINE and Apple Messages, so there was nothing new to install. That suited people who disliked switching between apps just to log a quick appointment.
  • Free of charge: Every directory we read listed Dola as free, with no card required to start. Casual users could rely on it for daily scheduling without weighing up a subscription.
  • Fast capture: A single short message was usually enough to create a dated entry with a reminder. Product Hunt feedback praised how quickly and accurately it understood requests.
  • Photo parsing: Turning a flyer or screenshot into an event saved retyping details from school letters, tickets or invitations. Parents and students gained most from this, as they receive many dates as images.
  • Shared planning: Group chat support let families and small teams log plans where they were already discussing them. Everyone saw the confirmation in the thread, which cut down on missed arrangements.

Cons

Retirement is now the decisive problem: the Dola brand is gone, its website no longer loads and its main WhatsApp channel closed in February 2026.

  • Retired product: Dola no longer exists under that name, and older guides describe features that have changed. Anyone searching for it today should go straight to Toki and its current help pages.
  • Platform dependence: Dola relied on messaging platforms that it did not control. When WhatsApp tightened its rules on AI assistants, the most popular way to use the service disappeared almost overnight.
  • No Outlook link: Reviewers noted that Dola connected to Google, Apple and CalDAV calendars but not directly to Outlook. Work users on Microsoft 365 had to sync through another calendar as a workaround.
  • Ambiguous requests: Vague phrases such as “next weekend” or missing time zones could produce an event at the wrong time. Checking the confirmation message before moving on was the safest habit.
  • Privacy trade-off: Messages and photos passed through a third-party bot before reaching your calendar. People handling sensitive appointments had little visibility of how that chat data was stored.

Who is Using Dola?

Nobody can sign up for Dola now, so its former users have moved to Toki, which reports more than 5 million users across its apps.

  • Former Dola users: People who relied on the chat bot now sign in to Toki with the same phone number. They keep the conversational style but use Toki’s own app instead of WhatsApp.
  • Busy parents: Families used Dola to turn school letters and party invitations into dated entries. Photo input meant they could log a term’s events from a few pictures.
  • Students: Learners forwarded class timetables, exam dates and assignment deadlines by message. Reminders in the chat helped them keep track without a separate planner.
  • Frequent travellers: Travellers sent booking confirmations and itinerary screenshots to log flights and hotels. Directories also mention people who worked across time zones.

Pricing

Dola cost nothing and is now retired; its successor Toki offers a free plan plus Plus and Pro subscriptions (Toki pricing page, checked October 2026).

Plan Price Status
Dola $0 Retired, renamed Toki
Toki Free $0 Active, up to 3 calendars, basic AI quota
Toki Plus $3.99 a month Active, up to 5 calendars, 7-day trial
Toki Pro $9.99 a month Active, higher AI limits, 7-day trial

The pricing page showed a 40% sale and quoted yearly savings of 25 to 30%, while one directory listed a 50-message free tier and a $9.99 Pro plan under the Dola name, which appears to reflect Toki’s later model.

Disclaimer: Toki changes its promotions often, so the price shown in the app at sign-up is the one that counts.

What Makes Dola Unique?

A chat thread acted as the whole calendar interface. Most calendar tools ask you to open an app and fill in fields, whereas Dola let you message it as you would a friend and filled the fields in for you, including from a photo.

That design was also its weak point, because the service depended on other companies’ messaging rules. Toki keeps the conversational approach but has added features Dola never had, such as booking links, conflict suggestions, to-dos and phone-call escalation for urgent reminders, all delivered through its own apps.

Compatibilities and Integrations

Dola connected four messaging apps to three calendar types, and Toki now extends that to Outlook, Apple Watch and Siri.

  • Messaging apps: Dola ran on WhatsApp, Telegram, LINE and Apple Messages. WhatsApp support ended under Toki on 15 February 2026.
  • Calendars: Dola synced with Google Calendar, Apple Calendar and CalDAV accounts. It did not offer a direct Outlook connection.
  • Successor apps: Toki runs on iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Mac and Android phones and tablets. Its site lists nine interface languages, including Japanese and Chinese.
  • Toki calendars: Toki adds Outlook and iCloud alongside Google. The free plan syncs up to three calendars and paid plans up to five.

Summary

Dola suited people who wanted to add plans by chatting rather than opening a calendar, especially parents, students and travellers who receive dates as messages or photos. Its main limitation was dependence on messaging platforms, and the brand itself is now retired. Toki, the same product under a new name, carries the idea forward with its own apps and paid tiers. If you used Dola, sign in to Toki with the same phone number and test the free plan before paying for Plus or Pro.
