What is Moosend?
Moosend is a web-based email marketing and automation platform that lets you design newsletters, send unlimited campaigns and trigger automated emails from subscriber behaviour. It describes itself as the easiest email marketing platform, and it targets small businesses, ecommerce shops and agencies that want automation without a steep price.
Work happens in a drag-and-drop email builder, a visual workflow editor for automations, and an audience area with segments and tags. Landing pages, subscription forms, A/B testing, real-time reports and SMTP sending sit in the same account, so a small team rarely needs extra tools.
Ownership has changed in recent years. Moosend was previously owned by Sitecore, and Constant Contact announced in June 2025 that it had acquired Moosend from Sitecore. The Moosend homepage now carries the line that it is a Constant Contact company, while its privacy policy names Moosend Ltd in London as the operating entity.
Key Features
Automation workflows and the AI Writer matter most in Moosend, because together they cut the time needed to plan, write and send each campaign.
- Marketing automation: A visual workflow builder triggers emails from actions such as sign-ups, link clicks or abandoned carts. Prebuilt recipes cover common journeys, so you can launch a welcome series without designing every step yourself.
- AI Writer: The AI Writer drafts email copy and subject lines inside the editor from a short prompt. Moosend’s pricing page lists it among the features included in the free trial, so you can test it before paying.
- Product recommendations: A recommendation engine inserts products into emails based on browsing and purchase history. Ecommerce shops use it to personalise newsletters and cart reminders without building product blocks by hand.
- Email builder and templates: A drag-and-drop editor and a library of templates produce responsive emails without code. Subject line testing and A/B tests then show which version earns more opens and clicks.
- Landing pages and forms: You can build landing pages, pop-ups and subscription forms in the same account. New contacts flow straight into lists and segments, which keeps list growth and follow-up in one place.
- Audience discovery and segmentation: Segments and tags group subscribers by behaviour, location or custom fields. Audience Discovery, sold as an add-on, helps identify and target new groups of potential contacts for future campaigns.
Pros
Low cost per contact is why small businesses pick Moosend, with third-party reviews citing Pro prices that start around $9 a month.
- Affordable entry price: Review sites report Pro from $9 a month for 500 contacts with unlimited emails. Paying six months or a year ahead cuts that by 15 or 20 per cent.
- Generous free trial: The 30-day trial needs no credit card and allows up to 1,000 contacts with unlimited sends. You can run real campaigns and automations before committing any money.
- Automation on every plan: Workflows, landing pages and forms are included in Pro rather than reserved for higher tiers. Small teams get behaviour-based journeys usually found in pricier tools.
- Easy to learn: The drag-and-drop editor and workflow recipes suit marketers without design or coding skills. Most new users can plan, design and send a first campaign within a single afternoon.
- Flexible sending options: Pay-as-you-go email credits run from $350 for 350,000 to $1,000 for one million. Occasional or seasonal senders can therefore avoid paying for a monthly subscription entirely.
Cons
Add-on pricing is Moosend’s weak spot, because features such as transactional email and SSO cost extra outside the Enterprise plan.
- Key features cost extra: Transactional emails, dedicated IPs, SSO and custom dashboards are add-ons on Pro and Moosend+. Your real bill can rise quickly once you need several of them.
- No permanent free plan: After the 30-day trial you must pay to keep sending. Very small lists may prefer rivals that keep a free tier for a few hundred contacts.
- Prices hidden behind a calculator: The official pricing page shows costs only after you pick a contact count. Comparing plans at a glance is harder than with competitors that publish a full price table.
- Fewer integrations than leaders: Moosend connects with Salesforce, WordPress, Magento, WooCommerce and Zapier, but its catalogue is smaller than Mailchimp’s. Niche apps may need a Zapier connection or custom work with the API.
- Ownership in transition: Moosend now sits inside Constant Contact, which promotes its own SMS and social tools on Moosend’s homepage. Long-term roadmap and pricing could change as the products are combined.
Who is Using Moosend?
Ecommerce brands and small marketing teams form Moosend’s main user base, and its homepage lists names such as Domino’s, Dell and WWF.
- Ecommerce shops: Online stores on WooCommerce or Magento use cart reminders and product recommendations. The goal is to recover sales and repeat orders automatically.
- Small businesses: Owners and lean marketing teams send newsletters and welcome series on a tight budget. They value the low contact-based price.
- Agencies: Agencies manage campaigns for several clients with templates and team seats. Pro includes five team members, with more available as an add-on.
- Nonprofits and publishers: Charities and media sites send regular updates to large lists. Segments help them tailor appeals and content to different audiences.
Pricing
Moosend offers a 30-day free trial, then charges for Pro by contact count, with third parties citing $9 a month for 500 contacts (October 2026).
| Plan | Price | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Free trial | $0 for 30 days | Up to 1,000 contacts, unlimited sends, AI Writer, automations, landing pages and forms, two team members |
| Pro | From $9/month (reported, 500 contacts) | Unlimited campaigns, automation, landing pages, five team members; price rises with contacts |
| Moosend+ | Custom | All Pro features plus the Enterprise add-ons you choose |
| Enterprise | Contact sales | Transactional email, SSO and SAML, 10+ team members and advanced features in one plan |
| Email credits | $350 to $1,000 | Pay-as-you-go packs of 350,000 to one million emails |
The official calculator does not show fixed figures in its page text, so the Pro prices come from Email Vendor Selection, which reports $16 for 1,000 contacts and $88 for 10,000. Futurepedia also lists $9 for 500 contacts but warns that its pricing may be out of date. Moosend itself confirms discounts of 15 per cent for biannual and 20 per cent for annual billing.
Disclaimer: the price you pay depends on your exact contact count and add-ons, so run the official calculator with your own list size.
What Makes Moosend Unique?
Automation, landing pages and an ecommerce recommendation engine come bundled into an entry-level plan priced by contacts rather than by feature tier. Many rivals hold back workflows or product blocks for higher plans, so Moosend gives small shops more tools for the same spend.
Its email credit packs are a second difference. Senders with irregular schedules can buy credits instead of a monthly plan, which suits seasonal campaigns and one-off announcements.
Compatibilities and Integrations
Moosend connects to common ecommerce and CMS platforms such as WooCommerce, Magento and WordPress, plus Salesforce, Zapier and its own API.
- Platform: Moosend is web-based and works in any modern browser. Emails and landing pages are responsive on mobile devices.
- Ecommerce and CMS: Named integrations include WooCommerce, Magento and WordPress for syncing subscribers and shop data.
- CRM and automation: Salesforce and Zapier connections link Moosend to sales records and thousands of other apps.
- API and SMTP: A developer API and SMTP server let you send from your own systems. Transactional email is an add-on below Enterprise.
- Data protection: The privacy policy says Moosend acts as a processor for customer data, uses TLS encryption and relies on adequate transfer mechanisms.

How We Rated It
Value for money carries Moosend to 4.0 out of 5, while a thin integration list and paid add-ons pull the score down.
| Criterion | Score | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Accuracy and Reliability | 4.0/5 | Reliable sending, CSA certified |
| Ease of Use | 4.4/5 | Simple builder and recipes |
| Functionality and Features | 4.1/5 | Automation, pages, AI Writer |
| Performance and Speed | 4.0/5 | Real-time reports, quick setup |
| Customization and Flexibility | 3.8/5 | Add-ons needed for extras |
| Data Privacy and Security | 3.9/5 | Processor role, TLS, GDPR |
| Support and Resources | 3.8/5 | Help centre, limited detail |
| Cost-Efficiency | 4.5/5 | Low price per contact |
| Integration Capabilities | 3.7/5 | Smaller app catalogue |
| Overall Score | 4.0/5 | Average of the nine criteria |
Summary
Moosend suits small businesses and ecommerce shops that want automation, landing pages and an AI Writer at a low price per contact. Its main limitation is that transactional email, SSO and dedicated IPs sit behind add-ons or Enterprise. The move into Constant Contact may also bring changes to plans and roadmap over time. For most growing lists it remains a sensible, budget-friendly choice. Use the full 30-day trial to build one real automation and check deliverability before you pick a paid tier.
